Support for Lowood and District Friendship Group

Somerset Funerals Manager Micheal Niethe presented a cheque to Yvonne Hawkins, Secretary/President of the Lowood and District Friendship Group. Yvonne will be celebrating 5 years of service and support to the local community and surrounding area to family's who are coping with a loved one suffering with Dementia.

RACQ Docudrama

Michael and Delwyn from Somerset Funerals joined with Cory and Matt (Queensland Ambulance Service) and Kate and Jane (Queensland Police Service) to assist at a recent RACQ Docudrama which was presented to 100 students from the West Moreton College.

The Docudramas are an educational tool that assist students and their peers in the dangers of drink driving.

'Blue Dogs' Sponsorship

Somerset Funerals in Fernvale are proud sponsors of the Laidley Cricket Club, or otherwise known as the 'Blue Dogs'. The club has junior and senior teams playing in the Ipswich and West Moreton Cricket Association's competition.

Lowood Bowls Club Carnival

Lowood Bowls Club held their Annual Carnival on the 2nd and 3rd of June, 2018. An excellent weekend was had by all, with 16 teams competing for the winners prize. The 2 day carnival saw some excellent bowls by all teams who played.

Gatton Ladies Fiesta Carnival

Somerset Funerals was proud to be the Major Sponsor for the Gatton Ladies Fiesta Carnival held on the 17 May 2018. 16 Teams competed for the overall winners prize. Our Somerset Team held their own against some strong opposition. Over all winners on the day was the local team from Gatton. A big thank you to Delwyn, Kerri-anne, Di and Karen, also to Lyn and the Gatton Ladies for a wonderful, successful day.

Amazons Netball Club Season Launch

Somerset Funerals Michael Niethe and Delwyn Hawke are welcomed to Amazons Netball Club 2018 season launch by president Norma.

This year Somerset Funerals has become a sponsor of the club and look forward to a great season. The club has grown from 11 teams in 2017, to 15 teams in the 2018 season. Teams include Juniors,Cadets and Seniors. Somerset Funerals wishes the club great success for 2018 and are proud to be supporting the club and the community.

Katie George Sponsorship

Local girl Katie George was selected to play indoor hockey for Ipswich at the recently held State Championships in Rockhampton. Although Katie's team finished 4th overall, Katie has been selected in the Queensland Team as Goalkeeper to play in the Australian Championships in February next year. Katie and her parents Matt & Juanita are very thankful to Somerset Funerals for their support and sponsorship of Katie.

The Lowood Show

Somerset Funerals had their Show Stall again this year at the Lowood Show on Saturday 17 June, 2017. With the rain putting a damper on things during the lead up days, a very good crowd attended, with perfect Show weather. Somerset Funerals also sponsored a Junior Show Jumping event.

Lowood Bowls Club Carnival

Somerset Funerals was the Major Sponsor for the Lowood Bowls Club Carnival held on the 3rd & 4th June 2017. It was a very successful weekend with 16 teams from all over competing for the Major Prize of $1,000.00. Many thanks to all the players and to all the volunteers from Lowood Bowls who ensured it was a great weekend for all who participated. The eventual winners were a Team of local Lowood Bowlers.

Rosewood Bowls Club Hawian Day

Members of the Rosewood Bowls Club attended their Hawian Day on Saturday, 21st January 2017. Twilight Memorial Service

On a breezy December afternoon families gathered at the Somerset Chapel, Lowood, in memory of those we said goodbye to over the past year. Rosewood Bowls Club Halloween Night

Somerset Funerals were the Major Sponsor for the Rosewood Bowls Club Halloween Night. The annual Halloween Bowls Night held at Rosewood Bowls Club was well supported with over 60 people attending. Many got into the theme and came along in fancy dress to enjoy a game of bowls in the dark, a good time was had by all who attended. Valley of the Lakes Bowls Tournament

Somerset Funerals were the Major Sponsors for Toogoolawah Bowls Club annual 'Valley of the Lakes Bowls Tournament' held at Toogoolawah Bowls Club on 29 & 30 October 2016.

With over 14 Teams represented by Clubs from Caloundra, Toowoomba, Brisbane, Lowood and Ipswich, it was a very successful weekend. Congratulations to the Toogoolawah Bowls Club for putting on a fantastic weekend.

Somerset Chapel's First Wedding

Somerset Chapel, situated in Church Street, Lowood was host to the very first Wedding held on the 8th October 2016.

The lucky couple, Michael Niethe and Del Hawke celebrated with family and friends and continued the day at the Lowood Golf Club.

Diabetes QLD Donation

Somerset Funerals raised money through a raffle and donated a cheque for $250 to Diabetes Queensland. The prizes for the raffle were donated by local businesses within the Somerset Region.

Somerset Rail Trail

Somerset Funerals was a Silver Sponsor for the Somerset Region Rail Trail Fun Run on Sunday 10th July which had over 500 contestants. One of our staff members, Antony, competed in the Run. Somerset Funerals also supported Diabetics Qld on the day with a raffle to raise money for that organisation. A local family whose son came third in the Junior Section won the raffle and a great day was had by all.

Annual Lowood Show

The annual Lowood show was a very successful day for everyone involved. Somerset Funerals sold over 120 tickets for the Diabetes Queensland raffle where all prizes had been donated by local businesses.
